    Music - Take us to the bridge

    We listened to and appraised the pop song "Hands, Feet, Heart" and had a great discussion about how music tastes are different and that it is ok to like something if someone else doesn't. We then looked at the composition of songs and how verses, choruses and bridges are used.

    History - Enquiry questions

    After Boot Camp, we worked in small groups and then individually to think about questions we would like to find the answer to. We discussed what the word enquiry means and how we could find the answers to such questions as, "Why did World War I happen?", "What did they use pigeons for?" and "What weapons did they use in the air?"

    PE - Swimming

    Whilst we are enjoying the last few days of summer, we took to the water to refresh ourselves on entering and exiting the pool safely. We played lots of games to help us keep building our water confidence.

    We have a great first day back. We are recapping our three school rules and we discussed why they are so important. We are looking forward to all the excited things we are learning in year 2.

    Geography - Locating UK cities

    We took part in some retrieval tasks today to find out how much we can remember about the United Kingdom. We had to solve questions about capital cities and counties before locating several important towns and cities on a map.

    Today we discussed the physical differences between boys and girls, used the correct names for parts of the body and recognised that some parts of our body are private.

    Computing - Programming Quizzes

    Today we had to change a given design by choosing characters and backgrounds for our animation. We then had to create a program based on our new design. We had to base our design around the question "Who Lives Here?" and add different characters and backgrounds accordingly.

    PE - Swimming

    Our focus today was to be able to dip our heads underwater. We played lots of games to build our confidence and we even got to blow some bubbles underwater. We then recapped how to use floats to glide across the pool.

    Today we had to create a program using a given design. The children had to work out the actions of a sprite in an algorithm and decide which blocks to use to meet the design. They had great fun using the tap to start function and creating speech bubbles.

    We have been using flotation aids today to help with our water confidence. We kept our shoulders submerged with our eyes looking at the floor of the pool. Then we let our feet and long legs float to the surface keeping our arms by our ears.
