    Posted by Mr N Kavanagh
During this lesson, year 2 recapped what they knew already about the ScratchJr app. They then identified the start of sequences in real-world scenarios, and were shown how sequences need to be started in ScratchJr. They then created programs and ran them in full-screen mode using the Green flag.

    Posted by Mr N Kavanagh
We looked at the Spanish festival -La Tomatina. This is an annual event in Buñol. Participants have to squash thousands of tomatoes before throwing them at each other in the world's biggest food fight. We didn't partake in the throwing, we just had lots of fun squishing them.

New Class Text - The Danger Gang

    Posted by Mr N Kavanagh
Franky can't wait to move to his new town - although he wishes he didn't have to leave his best friend Dani behind. But everything changes after the storm, when strange green lightning and powerful thunder crash down on the town. From that night on, the kids who live on Franky's street start to change. One by one, they become a little odd. A little unusual. A little... magical.

    VE Day

    Posted by Mr N Kavanagh
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE day, year 2 watched a short film about the events that took place leading up to the end of Word War II. We held a 2 minute silence to remember all those who have fallen and then we celebrated by taking part in a lindy hop on the playground.

    Science - Growing plants

    Posted by Mr N Kavanagh
The children explained how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy. They used their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions and then we set up a test to find out what plants need to stay healthy. We will keep checking on these plants over the next few weeks to see if our predictions are correct.
