    Trip to Cheddar

    We had a great trip to Cheddar Gorge and Caves today! The children enjoyed the coach trip, demonstrated some great knowledge recall during their pre-history talk and demonstration and we had a great time exploring Gough's cave too! We even saw goats whilst we enjoyed our lunch!

    Problem Solving

    Glockenspiels

    Science - performing a test

    Today in science we tested out the properties of rocks. We did a scratch test to see if the rocks were soft or hard, we looked closely using magnifying glasses and we dropped water on the rocks to test for permeability. We then used this information to classify the rocks.

    Diwali

    We have been learning all about the story of Diwali and how it is celebrated. We had a go at making some Rangoli patterns, drawing Mendhi patterns and making our very own Diya lamps!

    Self-portraits

    As part of building community in our classroom, we enjoyed painting our own self-portraits, which we will display in the classroom. This was as part of our 'Welcome Back to School' activities this week.

    Spanish Day - Landmarks

    Today year 3 took part in trying to recreate famous Spanish landmarks using Lego. We looked at a brief history of the Spanish empire and why do so many people speak Spanish. Well done year 3.

    DT/History - Roman Savillum Cheesecake

    The children had a great time baking today. They were provided with instructions to prepare their cheesecake and given the ingredients and various measuring tools. The children worked in their groups to follow instructions to create a cheesecake mix ready for baking.

    PSHE - Relationships

    Year 3 discussed the roles of different genders at home and in careers. The children concluded through discussion that there are opportunities for everyone in different careers and jobs should be shared equally at home regardless of gender.
