Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough!

Today we celebrated Sir David Attenborough's birthday. We created birthday cards for him and decorated cupcakes to look like animals. We also spent lots of time outside, collecting natural materials for a whole school project and creating dens.

English - Need or want?

Today we started our new text in English - Freedom Bird. We thought about things that are most important to us. We used a diamond ranking system to rank what is most and least important to us. This included, freedom, friendships, water, shelter and love.

Geography - OS maps

Today in Geography, we have been observing a local Ordnance Survey map of our local area. We have been using the map to help us find out which amenities are in our local area, using symbols.

PE - Athletics

Today in PE, we continued to refine our technique for accuracy throw. We also practised how to position our bodies for long throw. We then started to practise our relay for sports day.

In art this term, we are looking at different types of sculptures and what they can be made of. This afternoon, year 5 went out onto the field and collected natural materials to make a nature sculpture.

Today in English we have been learning about the seven minutes of terror as Curiosity landed on Mars. We watched the reaction of those at NASA when they received confirmation that Curiosity had safely landed. We then worked in pairs to interview each other and learn how it felt watching that moment.
