    Science - Asexual Reproduction

    In science today, we have been learning about how different plants can reproduce through one parent plant. To support this, we looked at a spider plant with a runner and took clippings from it to plant more spider plants. We will now aim to take care of these to help them grown for the rest of the term.

    PE - Teamwork

    Today we enjoyed PE out in the sun. The children worked brilliantly in their teams to complete the activities using all members of their team.

    PE - Seated Volleyball

    During PE today we attempted to play seated volleyball. We experimented with different types of balls and received feedback to help improve the rules and game-play.

    History - What happened to the Maya cities?

    Today in History, we explored theories about what may have happened to the Maya cities and why they were abandoned. Theories include, invasion, drought and illness. We then voted on which one we thought may be the most likely cause.

    World Book Day 2026

    Today we celebrated world book day. In year 5, we have been looking at the book 'Love is...' by Sarah Maycock. We used this as inspiration to create our own book based on reading. The children chose their own reading quotes and then used water colours to create an image. One of the quotes was: 'Reading is like breakfast on a Saturday morning'.

    Science - Hook

    Caterpillars have arrived in year 5! As our hook for our science topic, we have some caterpillars in year 5. We are hoping to be able to observe the life cycle of a butterfly, including metamorphosis.

    English - Active and Passive Voice

    Today in English, we have been practising identifying the differences between active and passive voice. We then had a go at re-writing sentences written in the active and changing these to passive.

    Library Visit

    This afternoon, we visited the library. The children enjoyed exploring and sharing books with friends and playing chess.
