  The Arctic

  From high above to below we are now looking at the coldest place on Earth. The children have been learning the names of animals who live there and what the weather is like. Using their own hand prints the children made penguins.

  The letters of my name

  Today the children were challenged with a writing activity. In order to make their rocket they needed to find the letters of their names and place them in the correct order. To use this the children were able to use their name tags from the feelings board. This helped them recognise what letters they needed and listened to the sounds from their name.

  Space Center

  Our role play has been made in to its very own space center where the children can book rocket trip tickets to see space or to have a coffee/tea and cake under the planets. They have been encouraged to use technology such as a keyboard, screen and a phone to book their trips.

  We've landed on the moon.

  Today the children used tin foil to make the patterns on the moon. They then cut out an astronaut with some adult support to stick on. The children were asked questions such as what would the moon be like? What might an astronaut take to the moon? and etc

  Above and beyond

  We are looking at space for the next two weeks. We will be talking about astronauts, rockets and the names of the planets.

  The children all worked together to plan their idea of building a road using the wooden planks. They all worked as a team and helped each other to make it happen!

  Today we have been working on our pencil grip. The children were encouraged to have a go at drawing themselves or their family members!

  Stick Man

  Our role play area has been turned into Stick Mans house. However Stickman is nowhere to be seen, the children have been looking through the story to see what clues there are for where abouts he has been!

  LJ'S campsite

  Today the children built their own campsite and pretended they were camping in the woods. They used logs and seats, a fire and cotton balls for marshmallows. We then decided to extend this and build another campsite in our outdoor area. This time we used a real tent and crates for chairs.

  Woodland Animals

  We have been thinking of what 'Small' animals we might find in the woods. Today for our tuff tray we set up a bug hunt. The children used a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers to collect as many bugs as they could find. We learnt the names of lots of bugs today!
